A guide to Discovery

…Make a claim for Medical expenses

  1. Have copy of Doc’s bills and payment receipts
  2. Email: scan and email claim to claims@discovery.co.za
  3. Claims-drop-off-boxes: post claim in Discovery Claims box in most pharmacies, medical practices and Virgin Active and Planet Fitness gyms

NB:

  • Claims must be submitted within 4 months
  • Make sure your membership number, healthcare professional’s details and practice number are clear
  • Submit a detailed claim – not just a receipt (include the invoice and receipt of payment)

…Make a GAP claim

  1. Download claim form from our website
  2. Complete the form (include ID and policy number), attach a copy of the doctor’s bill stating the outstanding amounts, and a copy of the medical aid statement detailing what has been paid and what is outstanding
  3. Email to the GAP provider – details on the form

NB! GAP claims can only be made on in hospital bills!

…Get a Discovery Health membership certificate

  1. Call 0860 751 751 to initiate the claim process, then follow their instructions re: documents needed
  2. In an emergency situation call 0860 999 911
  3. If you have the smart phone claim’s app , take photos of accident scene, capture details of other driver and witness, and send to initiate claim process

…Change Banking details

If personal bank account

1. Phone 0860 99 77 88 for Health (0860 751 751 for Insure) and follow voice prompts to the correct option – you can only change banking telephonically if you are the main member and if it’s your own banking details. To make changes to banking details for Life or Invest, you have to go through your Broker.

If you want broker’s office to make the changes

  1. Collect the following supporting docs : proof of banking (either a bank statement or letter from bank, not older than 3 months); copy of ID doc of main member and accountholder if different; if account holder is company, we will require their instruction on a Company letterhead, together with a copy of the authorised signatory’s ID
  2. Complete and sign the relevant change of banking forms
  3. Broker’s office will then send all paperwork to relevant department
  4. Await confirmation and then check your relevant bank statements for the next month to ensure it’s all correct

…Request an International Travel Medical Cover Letter

  1. Call 0860 99 8877 and ask them to email it to you
  2. Website: Login to your profile, Hover over Health, Find 'what we cover', Select 'Travel Medical Insurance', Select your Destination,  Click on 'Request letter'.
